Azur Lane fans, we’ve got a proper update at last. Azur Lane: Bisoku Zenshin! Ni!!, better known as Azur Lane: Slow Ahead! Season 2, has revealed more of its supporting cast, confirmed its theme song rollout, and dropped a second promotional video ahead of its broadcast.
The new season is scheduled to start on July 6 at 1:00 a.m. on BS11, before airing on Tokyo MX. For fans in Malaysia and the rest of SEA, that lines up to roughly midnight MYT/SGT, so yes, this is one of those late-night anime drops if you want to keep up as early as possible.
New cast additions announced
The newly revealed cast includes:
- Charybdis voiced by Yuu Ayase
- Devonshire voiced by Kaoru Sakura
- Dido voiced by Ruriko Aoki
- Golden Hind voiced by Yuka Hinata
- Liverpool voiced by Mizuki Mano
That should be a nice bump for longtime players of the mobile game, especially if these characters are among your favourites. One of the fun things about Slow Ahead! has always been its more laid-back, character-driven approach. Instead of going all-in on naval warfare drama, this spin-off leans harder into slice-of-life energy, cute interactions, and shipgirl chemistry.
So if you came here expecting explosive fleet battles every five minutes, this series still probably isn’t trying to be that. But if you enjoy the broader Azur Lane cast just vibing, goofing around, and getting more screen time than they usually would in a more action-heavy adaptation, Season 2 looks like it’s staying in that lane.
A second promo is now out too
Alongside the cast update, the official site also unveiled the anime’s second promotional video and shared details for the theme song. Even without every song detail laid out here, this is usually the point where a show’s actual tone starts becoming clearer, and for Slow Ahead!, that matters a lot.
A good PV can tell fans whether the new season is keeping the same soft, comfy charm as before or trying to push the series in a slightly flashier direction. For a title like this, vibes are half the sell, no cap.
Why Malaysia and SEA fans should care
Azur Lane has never been a niche name in this region. Between the mobile game audience, anime fans who love character-heavy franchises, and the general overlap with gacha culture in SEA, there’s already a built-in crowd here that will be watching this one closely.
For Malaysian fans especially, Slow Ahead! works as the kind of easy weekly watch that doesn’t demand too much brainpower after work, class, or ranked grind. Not every season needs to be a lore monster. Sometimes you just want familiar characters, fun voice performances, and a comfy show to slot into your weekend lineup.
The July timing also puts it right in the middle of the Summer 2026 anime season, which means it’ll be competing for attention with bigger, louder titles. That said, Azur Lane: Slow Ahead! doesn’t really need to win the whole season. It just needs to deliver for its existing fanbase, and this update suggests it knows exactly who it’s making the show for.
If you’re already deep into Azur Lane, this is an easy one to keep on your radar. If you’re not, but you like chill character anime with an established fan-favourite cast, this might still be a decent casual pickup once the season starts.
