Rentaro’s girlfriend count is about to climb again, bro.

The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You Season 3 has officially locked in its Japan premiere date for July 5, putting the Shueisha rom-com back on the Summer anime calendar. For fans who have been following this absolute chaos machine since Season 1, that means the wait is almost over.

Based on the manga by Rikito Nakamura and Yukiko Nozawa, the series follows Aijo Rentaro, a guy who is somehow destined to meet 100 soulmates. The anime has fully committed to the bit so far, and by the end of Season 2, Rentaro’s relationship roster had already reached 11 girlfriends.

Season 3 is not slowing down. The latest preview teases six more potential girlfriends joining the madness, which means Rentaro’s group is edging closer to the 20s. At this point, the title is less of a joke and more of a mission statement.

Who is joining Season 3?

Two new characters already have confirmed voice actors:

  • Chiyo Iin, voiced by Kaori Ishihara
  • Nadi, voiced by Ayana Taketatsu

The new promotional art also shows anime designs for Yamame Yasashiki, Momiji Momi, and Kishika Torotoro, though their voice cast has not been announced yet. There is also one more mysterious girlfriend being teased, but she has not been fully revealed.

For a normal romance anime, adding this many characters would be recipe for disaster. For The 100 Girlfriends, it is basically the whole point. The appeal is not just the absurd harem setup, but how hard the series leans into making every heroine feel like part of the core joke — and somehow, Rentaro remains one of the most liked characters because he genuinely tries to make everyone happy.

Streaming details are still not confirmed

Season 3 will premiere in Japan on July 5, but international streaming plans have not been announced yet. The first two seasons are currently available on Crunchyroll, so fans in Malaysia and across SEA will naturally be watching to see whether Crunchyroll picks up the new season too.

Until that is confirmed, don’t lock in your watch-party plans just yet. As usual with anime simulcasts, Malaysia viewers may get episodes on the same day or slightly later depending on platform licensing and release timing. Japan is only one hour ahead of Malaysia, so if the simulcast happens, this should be an easy one to follow weekly.

Returning staff keeps the vibe consistent

Season 3 is also bringing back familiar names behind the scenes. Hikaru Sato returns as director at Bibury Animation Studio, with Takashi Aoshima handling scripts. Akane Yano is back on character designs, while Shuhei Mutsuki and Shunsuke Takizawa are composing the music at Lantis.

That consistency matters because this series lives and dies by timing — the rapid-fire comedy, the visual gags, the emotional sincerity hiding under the nonsense. If Season 3 keeps the same energy as the first two seasons, fans are in for another loud, ridiculous, strangely wholesome ride.

For Malaysian anime fans looking at the Summer lineup, The 100 Girlfriends Season 3 is one of those shows that works best as weekly group-chat fuel. Every new girlfriend reveal becomes meme material, every episode probably gets more unhinged, and honestly, that is exactly why people keep coming back.
