The upcoming TV anime The Duke’s Son Claims He Won’t Love Me Yet Showers Me with Adoration has added two more names to its voice cast, and romance anime fans will definitely recognise at least one of them.

The anime’s official website announced that Daisuke Namikawa and Mariko Kouda are joining the series as the parents of protagonist Elsa and her younger brother Hannes Eukrainen. The show is based on the manga by writer Kei Misawa and artist Natsu Mizuno, known in Japanese as Kimi o Koi Suru Ki wa Nai to Itta Jiki Kōshaku-sama ga Nazeka Dekiai Shitekimasu.

For anyone who enjoys aristocrat romance, contract marriage drama, and the classic “cold husband who probably catches feelings anyway” setup, this one is very much in that lane.

The story follows Elsa, the daughter of a noble family that has fallen from status. Out of nowhere, she receives a marriage proposal from Julius, a high-ranking nobleman who seems way above her social position. Naturally, Elsa wonders why someone so elite would want to marry her.

At first, Julius appears gentle and kind. But after the wedding, things shift hard. He tells Elsa that he has no intention of loving her, setting up the main emotional conflict of the series: a political-looking marriage that slowly turns into something far more complicated.

For Malaysian and SEA anime fans, this is the kind of title that usually does well with the villainess-adjacent / noble romance / arranged marriage crowd. Even if it is not technically an isekai, it has that familiar digital manga energy: elegant costumes, family status drama, emotional misunderstandings, and one very frosty male lead who clearly needs to sort himself out.

Behind the scenes, the anime has a fairly experienced team. Hitoyuki Matsui, whose credits include Dokkoida?! and Puppet Master Sakon, is directing the series at Zero-G and Grass. Kaoru Suzuki is credited for planning technical direction.

The scripts are being handled by Tomoko Konparu, who previously worked on Blue Spring Ride and Dance with Devils. Character designs are by Yūko Yahiro, known for Aharen-san wa Hakarenai and Attack on Titan: Junior High. Music is composed by MICHIRU, whose work includes Ascendance of a Bookworm and Given, while Saber Links is handling sound production.

That staff lineup suggests the anime is aiming more for polished romantic drama than loud fantasy spectacle. The music credit is especially interesting, because a story like this needs the emotional scenes to land properly. If the soundtrack can sell Elsa’s confusion, loneliness, and slow shift in feelings, this could become a comfortable weekly watch for romance fans.

The anime is scheduled to premiere in July on TV Asahi and BS Asahi in Japan. No SEA streaming platform has been mentioned in the provided announcement yet, so Malaysian viewers will need to wait for licensing news closer to launch. Given the genre, it would not be surprising if it ends up on one of the usual anime streaming services available in the region, but nothing has been confirmed for now.

The original manga launched on the BookLive digital bookstore in February 2021. Publisher Flex Comix released the fifth compiled volume on March 13, and also offers the manga in English through multiple digital platforms.

So if you like your romance with noble family politics, awkward married life, and a male lead who starts cold but probably won’t stay that way, keep this one on the Summer 2026 radar.
