Two 2005 Prince of Tennis Movies Finally Get English Dubs on Crunchyroll

Two films from The Prince of Tennis have received an English-language update more than two decades after their cinema debut. According to ComicBook Anime, Crunchyroll added English dubs for The Prince of Tennis: A Gift from Atobe and The Prince of Tennis: Two Samurais, The First Game on 14 October 2026.

Both originally opened in Japanese cinemas on 29 January 2005. That puts roughly 21 years between their original release and these newly reported dub additions. For anyone who prefers watching anime in English, the headline is straightforward: two older entries now have another audio option.

What has actually been added?

The update covers two films with different runtimes:

  • A Gift from Atobe: approximately 30 minutes.
  • Two Samurais, The First Game: approximately one hour.

The pair originally shared a theatrical release in Japan before eventually reaching streaming. ComicBook Anime reports that viewers previously had Japanese audio with English subtitles, with the English tracks arriving last month.

This was apparently a quiet catalogue update rather than a major promotional push. The report says Crunchyroll did not formally announce the additions; the X account @AnimeDubUpdates spotted them and shared the discovery.

One useful distinction: these are English dubs of existing films, not newly produced movies. The update changes how viewers can watch these particular stories, rather than adding another chapter to the franchise.

Are the films part of the main story?

ComicBook Anime describes both films as non-canon, noting that they do not adapt material from Takeshi Konomi’s manga.

Our take: treat them as optional side trips, not essential homework for following the current television anime. Their combined runtime of around 90 minutes also makes them a relatively compact option if you want something shorter than another full season.

That distinction matters here because The Prince of Tennis also has a separate, ongoing television release. The movie dub update and the latest season are related franchise news, but they are not the same release.

The current anime has an English dub too

The latest season, The Prince of Tennis II U-17 World Cup: Final Member Selection Match, premiered on Crunchyroll on 30 September 2026. The source reports a planned 13-episode run, with its English dub following the subtitled release by two weeks.

Its story continues with Team Japan’s players competing against familiar rivals for places in the World Cup final lineup. That gives viewers two distinct options: follow the current tournament storyline, or revisit the older standalone films with their newly added English tracks.

What Malaysian and SEA readers should check

The source does not confirm Malaysian or wider Southeast Asian availability for either movie dub. It lists streaming territories for the current television season, but that is not confirmation of where these films—or their English audio tracks—can be accessed.

Our take: the useful development is the extra viewing choice, especially if English audio is your preference. Before planning a watch, check the individual movie listings and available audio tracks in your own Crunchyroll account. This report alone is not enough to call it a Malaysian catalogue release.
