Bandai Namco has finally pulled the curtain back on Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3, confirming the next main entry in the long-running action RPG series during Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour 2026.

The new game is being developed by Dimps, the studio already closely tied to the Xenoverse series, and is currently planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in 2027. No Switch or Switch 2 version has been confirmed for now.

The big reveal also clears up one mystery Dragon Ball fans have been sitting on since January: the previously teased project known as “AGE 1000” is actually Xenoverse 3.

AGE 1000 is the new Xenoverse setting

Bandai Namco previously described AGE 1000 as a new Dragon Ball world with original characters created by Akira Toriyama. At Battle Hour 2026, the team confirmed that this new timeline is where Xenoverse 3 will take place.

This time, West City becomes the main hub. That is a pretty big shift for Xenoverse fans, because the series has always leaned heavily on its hub areas as the place where players meet NPCs, pick up missions, customise characters, and jump into fights.

Bandai Namco says Xenoverse 3 will still feel familiar structurally, but the game is moving into a fresh timeline with a new cast. Players will join the Great Saiyan Squad, fighting alongside both returning Dragon Ball favourites and new allies as the story develops around West City.

And yes, the custom character system is still part of the formula. That is basically the whole magic of Xenoverse: making your own Saiyan, Namekian, Earthling, or other Dragon Ball-style warrior and throwing them into chaotic franchise moments like you belong there.

Why Malaysian and SEA fans should care

Dragon Ball games always hit differently in Malaysia and SEA because the fanbase here spans generations. You have older fans who grew up on Goku and Vegeta, younger fans who entered through Super, FighterZ, or Sparking!, and plenty of players who just want a big anime action RPG to grind after work or class.

For Malaysian players, the platform list matters. A 2027 release on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC means this is clearly being built for current-gen hardware. PC will likely be the most important version for a lot of SEA players, especially for those who prefer Steam, cyber cafe-style setups, or do not want to commit to a console ecosystem.

The bigger question is how Bandai Namco handles long-term support. Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 launched way back in October 2016, and somehow the game is still alive with post-launch content almost a decade later. Its Future Saga Chapter 3 arrived in October 2025, and the final chapter has still not launched yet.

If Xenoverse 3 follows that same model, this might not be just a one-and-done anime game. It could become another long-term Dragon Ball platform, with new story chapters, characters, transformations, and events rolling out for years. For SEA players who like games they can return to between major releases, that is a strong selling point.

A stacked Dragon Ball showcase

Games Battle Hour 2026 also had extra pressure on it, since last year’s event was cancelled because of the California wildfires. Bandai Namco made up for the gap with multiple Dragon Ball updates, including Xenoverse Future Saga Chapter 4, a new Dragon Ball FighterZ DLC character in Goku (SS4, DAIMA), updates for Dragon Ball Sparking!, and Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol.

For now, Bandai Namco is keeping the deeper gameplay details for later. But the important bit is confirmed: Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 is real, it is AGE 1000, and it is coming in 2027.
