Forza Horizon 6 Goes Gold, Pre-Load Opens With Massive 160GB PC Install

Forza Horizon 6 is officially locked in for launch, with Playground Games confirming that the racer has gone gold ahead of its global release later this month.

In normal gamer terms: the main development work is basically done, and the version being sent out for launch is ready. That does not mean the game will be completely patch-free on day one — these days, a launch or day-zero update is almost expected, especially for big open-world games — but it does mean Forza Horizon 6 is on track for release.

Pre-loading is also now available on Xbox Series X/S and PC, which is good news because this is not a small download, bro.

On Xbox Series X/S, players will need around 130GB to 135GB of storage. PC players have it even heavier at about 160GB, and the game also requires an SSD. For Malaysian and SEA players, that is the kind of file size where you probably do not want to wait until launch night unless your fibre connection is properly solid. If your Xbox or gaming PC is already packed with Call of Duty, Genshin, Honkai, or a few Game Pass installs, it is time to start clearing space now.

The big hook for Forza Horizon 6 is its Japan setting, and the newly revealed soundtrack seems built around that vibe. Playground Games says this entry will feature the biggest track list in the series so far, spread across nine in-game radio stations.

Returning stations include familiar names like Horizon Pulse and Horizon Bass Arena, so long-time fans still get that festival-road-trip energy the series is known for. There is also a new station called Gacha City Radio, which is honestly a very funny name for a Japan-set open-world racer in 2026. Whether it leans into J-pop, internet chaos, or something more anime-coded, we will have to see.

The confirmed artist list already has some strong names. Japanese bands BABYMETAL, BAND-MAID, and ONE OK ROCK are part of the soundtrack, alongside international acts like Rise Against and Linkin Park. That mix should land nicely for SEA players, where Japanese rock, anime-adjacent music, and old-school alternative tracks all have very real fanbases.

For Malaysian players especially, the soundtrack matters more than it may sound on paper. Forza Horizon is not just about racing from checkpoint to checkpoint — half the appeal is cruising, drifting, taking photos, and just soaking in the map. A strong radio lineup can make a late-night highway run or mountain sprint feel much more memorable.

Forza Horizon 6 launches on May 19 for Xbox Series X/S and PC. Players who pick up the Premium Edition get early access from May 15.

If you are planning to jump in day one, the practical advice is simple: pre-load early, make sure your SSD has enough breathing room, and maybe do not leave that 160GB PC download to your house WiFi during peak Netflix hours.
