LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight Reviews Are Looking Strong — But Switch 2 Fans Still Wait
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is already out on PS5, Xbox, and PC, and the early verdict is pretty encouraging. The awkward part? Nintendo Switch 2 players are still waiting.
Warner Bros. Games still plans to bring the new LEGO Batman title to Switch 2, but there is no confirmed release date yet. According to the Nintendo Life roundup, the date is expected to be announced “soon”, which is basically gamer-speak for: jangan panic, but don’t plan your weekend around it either.
For Malaysian and SEA players, this puts the game in that annoying decision zone. Do you grab it now on PS5, Xbox, or PC, or wait for the Switch 2 version and hope it runs properly? With third-party releases on Nintendo hardware sometimes arriving late or compromised, the delay might actually be a good sign if TT Games is using the extra time to make sure Gotham doesn’t turn into a slideshow.
Review scores are mostly strong
Based on the current batch of reviews, Legacy of the Dark Knight seems to be landing well. Gaming Bible gave it a perfect 10/10, praising the way it balances Gotham’s darker mood with LEGO’s usual comedy and playful mission design.
Gaming Bolt scored it 9/10, calling it a strong Batman game, a lighter spin on the Arkham-style formula, and another addictive TT Games LEGO adventure.
Game Informer went with 8.75/10, highlighting the story, combat, and open-world design. Push Square and IGN both gave it 8/10, with IGN pointing to its mix of Batman film references, comic nods, puzzles, collectibles, and a lively open-world Gotham.
VGC rated it 4/5 and framed it as a proper tribute to Batman media history, while also noting that the game is easy. Checkpoint Gaming was more reserved with 7/10, saying the game juggles too many Batman and LEGO legacies at once, making it enjoyable but not always fully cohesive.
So yeah, not flawless, but the overall vibe is very positive. Nintendo Life notes that the PS5 version is currently sitting at 84 on Metacritic, which is solid territory.
Why Switch 2 owners should care
This is the part Malaysian players should watch closely. LEGO games are usually strong picks for couch co-op, younger siblings, family play, and casual weekend grinding — all things that fit Nintendo hardware perfectly. A portable LEGO Batman with an open-world Gotham sounds memang ngam for Switch 2, especially if performance holds up.
But if the Switch 2 version arrives late and runs worse than other platforms, that changes the value equation. In Malaysia, where players often compare RM pricing across console storefronts, Steam sales, physical copies, and regional deals, platform choice matters. If you already have a gaming PC or PS5, waiting only makes sense if you specifically want portability.
The big question now is whether TT Games can deliver a version that feels close enough to the current-gen release. The reviews suggest the game itself is worth paying attention to: fun combat, lots of Batman fan service, open-world collectibles, and that classic LEGO humour. Now the Switch 2 port just needs to avoid being the weakest brick in the build.
For now, the smart move is simple: Batman fans on PS5, Xbox, and PC can probably jump in with confidence. Switch 2 owners should hold fire until Warner Bros. gives a proper date — and ideally, until performance impressions are out.
